Tarsha Joyner

Class of 2008

Tarsha Joyner is a wife, mother, grandmother, artist, small business owner, and a Food Network Champion. Oh, and did we mention she is also a graduate of CVCC? Joyner attended CVCC from 1998 to 2000 and, again, from 2006 to 2008, earning associate degrees in business administration and information systems programming.

“I enjoyed being treated like an adult at CVCC. I was able to make my own schedule and navigate classes based on what was going on in my life away from school,” she says. “I worked during the day and I also had a family to take care of. My husband took up most of the slack as I went to school mostly four nights a week directly after work.”

Joyner went on to earn a degree from the University of Lynchburg (UofL).  During her time there, she designed an entire marketing identity, and she created a fictional company called Mrs. Joy’s Absolutely Fabulous Treats. That fictional business came to life and is located at 1008 Commerce Street in downtown Lynchburg.

Joyner’s artistry is familiar to many. She was a contestant on The Food Network’s Christmas Cookie Challenge (2015) – she won, Dessert Games (2017) and Haunted Gingerbread Showdown (2019). She also took part in The Food Network Canada show, Project Bakeover  (2020) and appeared on The Fox Network’s Crime Scene Kitchen with her daughter (2023).
