Ask-a-Librarian, our online reference service, enables you and a reference librarian to chat online, in real-time, assisting you with your research. This is a free service, available to students 24/7.

Online Research Guides (also known as LibGuides) are created and maintained by CVCC Librarians, who evaluate and select databases, books, reference material, websites, and videos that support a specific subject or topic. 

Use QuickSearch to identify materials in the Library collection as well as access eBooks, select journal articles, and streaming media.

  • Reference books - do not circulate
  • Reserve books - loan periods are at the discretion of the faculty and may be for one week, overnight, or two hour in-library use

QuickSearch Journal Search : Use this tool to identify which journals, periodicals, and newspapers are available online.

  • Ebooks on EBSCOhost - A shared collection of academic electronic books from major publishers.
  • O'Reilly for Higher Education - A collection of electronic books covering technology and business topics.
  • OverDrive - Electronic audiobooks from the VCCS. Note that you must download the Libby app to listen via a mobile device.
  • Films on Demand - Streaming educational videos.

Off-Site Center students may request library materials using the Off-Site Center Material Request form.

Distance students may request library materials using the Distance Student Material Request form.
