In this 5-session course students will learn the basic elements, forms, and structure of songwriting. We will explore various musical genres and develop basic skills that will enable you to write songs within these styles. By the end of the course, you will have an original song(s) that you have written personally or within your collaborative group. The course is designed as an introduction to songwriting and previous musical training is not required. If you are a musician, you are encouraged to bring your instrument of choice if desired. Your course instructor uses an acoustic guitar as accompaniment and basic guitar skills will be covered. Most of all, you will have fun!
