Central Virginia Community College (CVCC) is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools  (SACS). The Respiratory Therapy program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (COARC).

This program is designed to meet the educational requirements for respiratory therapists in Virginia. If you intend to seek licensure outside of Virginia after finishing your program, use the link below to find information on the state or U.S. territory in which you intend to be licensed in order to identify whether CVCC’s Respiratory Therapy program meets, does not meet, or if it has not been determined if it meets the educational requirements for licensure. If CVCC’s program has not determined if it meets the educational requirements for licensure in the state in question, it may meet all or a portion of the educational requirements. If that is the case, we recommend that you contact the licensing agency directly before beginning the CVCC program.

Accreditation

The Central Virginia Community College Respiratory Therapy Technology Program located in Lynchburg, Virginia awards an Associate of Applied Science in  Respiratory Therapy Technology and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). CoARC accredits respiratory therapy education programs in the United States. To achieve this end, it utilizes an ‘outcomes based’ process. Programmatic outcomes are performance indicators that reflect the extent to which the educational goals of the program are achieved and by which program effectiveness is documented. CVCC's Respiratory Therapy program is an entry level program into the Respiratory Therapy profession.
