Admission Requirements

  • Rising high school junior
  • Minimum high school GPA 3.5
  • Completion of high school Algebra II prior to the start of the program
  • Submission of Early College application including recommendation forms from the following 
    • High school counselor
    • English teacher
    • Math teacher
  • Parental Permission

Prepare to apply

  • EC Timeline 2024-2025.docx
  • Ask an English and math teacher of your choice to submit a recommendation on your behalf.
  • Use the Recommendation Request Form to gather contact information of the English and math teacher.
  • Inform your high school counselor you are applying to the Early College program and gather the contact information for the Recommendation Request Form.
  • Expect to provide
    • extracurricular activities, honors, and any job you have held
    • professional and career interests
    • colleges and universities to which you hope to transfer
  • Compose a 450-to-600-word essay to copy and paste into the application.  Please select one of the following topics.
    1. A Hero is defined as a person admired for achievements and noble qualities; perhaps even one who shows great courage.  Who is your hero?  What do you admire about this person?  How do they inspire you?  Explain how they affect your decisions and your actions and your view of right and wrong.
    2. Every generation has a moment in history which seems to define them.  Their lives are divided into before and after that event.  Examples include the attack on Pearl Harbor, the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the explosion of the Challenger space shuttle and the 911 attack on the World Trade Center.  Which historical event in your life has affected you so profoundly?  Explain how it changed your thinking about the world. 
  • Submit application with a parent in one sitting.

Tips for a Successful Application

  • Student’s legal name as it appears on the high school transcript is provided.  No nicknames. 
  • Student’s high school email is listed. No student personal email addresses.
  • Parent email address and phone numbers are those which are regularly monitored. 
  • Accurate entry as collected on the Recommendation Request Form of the name and email address of the following:
    1. High school counselor
    2. English teacher
    3. Math teacher
  • Well-developed and grammatically correct essay, showcasing student’s best writing and thoughts

Early College Applications are due February 28, 2025.

At the end of the early college application, if you have not already applied to CVCC, you should complete the CVCC application linked at the end of the Early College Application.

Students applying to the Early College must complete both the Early College application and the CVCC application.
