What is expected of a Mentor?

A Mentor facilitates personal and professional growth in an individual by sharing the knowledge and insights that he or she has learned through experience. Mentors assist and direct students to appropriate resources when difficulties arise to ensure students have the support needed to achieve their education.

Mentors and Students will be matched according to interests identified on application forms.
The benefits to the mentor are:

Your responsibilities are:
  • Attend a mandatory training and Kick-off Luncheon.
  • Maintain regular, honest, open, and professional contact with the student on a bimonthly basis through email, text message, phone calls or meetings on campus.
  • Act as a role model for students and teach them the importance of professionalism.
  • Attend activities and events planned by the CVCC Mentoring Program.
  • Provide feedback through an evaluation form at the end of each semester.
