EMS programs are designed to prepare students for employment and certifications in Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT), EMT-Intermediate and Paramedic.

EMT courses are offered every semester. AEMT is offered in a two-semester format beginning each fall or a one-semester format starting each spring.  Intermediate and Paramedic programs begin each fall. Intermediate is a two-semester program. Paramedic is a two-year AAS degree program.  Advanced placement options exist for current AEMT, Enhanced, Intermediate and RNs.

Students must meet the requirements of the CVCC EMS programs, the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services and the National Registry of EMTs. Students must be 16 years of age or older to take EMT and 18 years of age or older for all advanced level programs. EMT certification is required before enrolling in any advanced level programs.
