Childhood  Development (CHD)

CHD 120 Introduction to Early Childhood Education (3 cr.) Introduces early childhood development through activities and experiences in nursery, pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and primary programs. Investigates classroom organization and procedures, and use of classroom time and materials, approaches to education for young children, professionalism, and curricular procedures. Lecture 3 hours per week.

CHD 165 Observation and Participation in Early Childhood/Primary Settings (3 cr.) Observes and participates in early childhood settings such as child care centers, preschools, Montessori schools or public schools in kindergarten through 3rd grade levels. Students spend one hour each week in a seminar session in addition to 60 clock hours in the field. May be taken again for credit. Lecture 1 hour. Laboratory 6 hours. Total 7 hours per week.
