CVCC Food Central is a food pantry initiative started by the CVCC Student Government Association and the Student Activities Office in partnership with Alliance for Excellence to assist students impacted by food insecurity by providing free food and related items. The USDA defines food insecurity as a state in which “consistent access to adequate food is limited by a lack of money and other resources at times during the year." Our goal is to assist students in need by cutting down their grocery bills and connecting them to other resources.

In a recent Wisconsin HOPE Lab survey of 33,000 community college students nationwide, 56% reported food insecurity.

CVCC Food Central is a member of the College and University Food Bank Alliance (CUFBA) which strives to “alleviate the barriers and challenges associated with food insecurity and hunger so that college and university students can remain in school, and ultimately, earn their degrees (”
