In order to assist Central Virginia Community College (CVCC) students who are having Internet service connectivity and computer hardware issues, the CVCC Library and IT department have some new services and programs to help students. These new services and programs include:
The free and open Wi-Fi zones are setup in CVCC parking lots 4, 6, and 7, near Bedford and Amherst halls, and the CVCC Bookstore. A map can be seen below . Free and open Wi-Fi zones are also setup in the Amherst, Appomattox, and Bedford Center parking lots. The Internet service Wi-Fi networks are named CVCC and CVCC Guest. For the best performance, students should use the CVCC named Wi-Fi network. When prompted to log into the CVCC Wi-Fi network, type "Directory\" before your MyCVCC username (e.g. Directory\jdoe246) and then enter your MYCVCC password. In addition to the free and open parking lot Wi-Fi zones, CVCC will also be supplying free loaner laptops or free loaner T-Mobile hotspot devices to qualifying students. There are a limited in number of devices and CVCC staff will be distribute computers and hotspots to enrolled students on a first-come, first-served basis.
