LYNCHBURG, VA – The Central VA Community College Campus Police department, along with the Student Activities office and the Chi Lambda Chi–Police Science Club, will be sponsoring a Public Safety Day on Friday, September 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is open to the public and will feature information related to personal safety, as well as various law enforcement techniques and demonstrations. Information areas and equipment will be located in the CVCC Student Center, the outdoor Quad area, and CVCC parking Lots 5 and 7. General parking for visitors will be available in the lower level Lot 1.
CVCC Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police Russell Dove explained, “We are sponsoring our second public safety day event to provide our students and staff another opportunity to interact with our public safety partners in a positive manner. I believe this positive interaction is crucial in light of some of the recent negative and unfortunate events in other communities across the nation. Also, the event will help educate people about the varying public safety occupations and provide information about employment opportunities in the diverse field of public safety.”

Chief Dove added, “My goal with this event is threefold: To help build awareness of personal protection and individual safety, to showcase the various occupations within the diverse field of public safety, and to provide information about the many occupation opportunities with local, state and federal agencies. And together with the help of CVCC and our local participating agencies, I think we’ll have a great event to do those things.”
