Virginia's Community Colleges Add Two Colleges to the Online Virginia Network

Blue Ridge Community College and Central Virginia Community College offer online degree and certificate programs, forging pathways to four-year institutions

RICHMOND, Va. (August 27, 2020) – Virginia’s Community Colleges is pleased to announce that Blue Ridge Community College and Central Virginia Community College have joined the Online Virginia Network (OVN), an initiative designed to help Virginians complete degrees and certificates through affordable, online education.

New online programs offered at Blue Ridge Community College include an associate degree in Graphic design, two Engineering degrees, and Cybersecurity. New programs offered through Central Virginia Community College include associate degrees in Business Administration, Education, Health Sciences, and Cyber Security. The addition of BRCC and CVCC rounds out the offerings from the other five community colleges in OVN.

“Now, more than ever, Virginians need safe, remote educational options that can help them rise through the ranks of their career and help enhance their life and overall wellbeing,” said coordinator of the Online Virginia Network, Dr. Holly Grant Whistler. “With COVID-19 continuing to impact education and employment across the commonwealth, this couldn’t be a better time for universities and Virginia’s Community Colleges to work together to create more opportunities for our neighbors to earn a degree or certificate in the state’s most essential, in-demand industries.”

OVN formed in 2017 to expand access to a range of affordable and quality online degree programs from George Mason University, Old Dominion University, James Madison University and Virginia’s Community Colleges. Altogether, there are seven community colleges partnering with OVN: Blue Ridge Community College, Central Virginia Community College, John Tyler Community College, Northern Virginia Community College, Reynolds Community College, Thomas Nelson Community College and Tidewater Community College. People interested in starting their education and completing their degree online through Virginia’s Community Colleges are encouraged to submit an inquiry here.
